"The works of many Armenian artists still contain the traces of the Renaissance style appreciation of art, observed at least in the structure of pictorial art. The sensitivity gap, the loss of emotion and apprehension sometimes increase cruelness and rationality in the human relation which is reflected inevitably on the canvases. Shota Voskanyan’s need to express himself is linked to his sensitive attitude towards cordiality in human relations. All that is fully depicted in his artworks created within the recent five years... "How can one explain the particular interest of Shota Voskanyan (and some of his contemporaries) towards some theatrical and circus performance, reincarnation, certain episode or a fairytale illustration? Perhaps it is a dramatizing of our routine life. Perhaps it is a reality deviation or a poetic metaphor concentrating the life. All those really matter for the artist himself and his art. Most likely he makes up that world, and does not mark it out from the seen. Shota is a chamber artist depicting undercover, intimate feelings. In his works he lifts the veil of his own emotions. The world of his depictions is based on common truths arising from a vital formula of his zest for life: life is good regardless of misery, pain and solitude… The artist is sensible to the inner world of a human being full of sympathy and compassion. Notwithstanding, Shota believes that love and kindness rule the world ...

...We observe that love in the nude figures of young women as well. Here is the admiration for female body shape like a precious vessel, an amazing tune…unique and charming. Here is archness, bliss and flirtation… The images of women are his vision of frank passion in all its variety. Here is no parting and consequently no misery now and then highlighted in his “theatrical” works ...

...Shota Voskanyan unexpectedly expressed a wish for self-expression in sculpture. And, what's the most amazing, this self-expression occurred to be supplemental to his paintings and graphics. The artist intuitively (he hasn’t receive any professional education in sculpture) got into the stylistics of his own creativity. This is what happened to many artists, for example Ervand Kochar, Edgar Dega or Xuan Miro. Shota sincere, with humour and recklessly became absorbed in his creativity and this developped his abilities as a painter. His enthusiasm opened new facets of his life, which started to formulate a new interesting phase of his creativity. "
